Vandee Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Got on the water at 2 headed north in 35-40 FOW. No dice. Headed back south in 30fow. hooked up on the down rigger, purple flasher white moonshine spoon, about 200yards north from the pier. then another hook up same rod, right out in front the the pier. Then trottle cable broke and ended the day. First fish was 5lb second was a 2lb either browns or steelhead. what are the tell tales between the two? Real bummer that we had a breakdown right as we were getting into the fish.
Priority1 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 GJ on the Spring fish. Take a look at the MI fishing guide. The Browns look a lot different than steel in shape and color. I hope you made it in OK with the broken throttle.
Vandee Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 http://imgur.com/CukJv0d heres one from the day before but same as what we caught today. Im leaning towards steelhead But the dots come down farther than what I remember from last year.
jdh Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 That's a brown. Generally steelhead & browns are very easy to tell apart, but there are some browns that will look similar to a steelie.
Vandee Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Good to know. Any good recipes for brown trout.
