instincter06
In Ludington Sunday morning I saw one guy carrying a fish in his net and another guy with 2 salmon on a stringer. Us and other guys trolling the area did very poor. 0/0. Water was still too warm.

DIRTY DOG
Yes there fish at the piers in the Holland and Saugatuck area. Also a lot of fish in the Kallamazoo river already. Got a few last night on the Jim Bobber and did better in the river this morning.

Sly Selea
- also lost just a monster of a walleye at the back of the boat. That really interests me. Was it actually in the lake? I don't know much about walleye other then they are delicious. I didn't know they got that close to the big lake, although I have caught them a ways up the St Joseph river. I'm trying to get better at catching them to mix up the fish menu.
SeaCatMich
That really interests me. Was it actually in the lake? I don't know much about walleye other then they are delicious. I didn't know they got that close to the big lake, although I have caught them a ways up the St Joseph river. I'm trying to get better at catching them to mix up the fish menu. 10 years ago caught my biggest walleye ever (13# 4) in April fishing inside the breakwall at St. Joe. I was casting parallel to the breakwall with a 1/2 oz fire-tiger wally diver. Great lure for early Coho too. I let it go so it could still be swimming around out there.I'm sure there are lots of big walleye in the southern basin of Lake Michigan that are going completely ignored. I know I have caught quite a few large ones fishing for spring steelhead in the St. Joe and the Betsie during the closed season.
smoke on the reelz
Went out today after work outta Saugatuck and caught 1 sheephead. No king bites threw everything at them. Don't think they're there. Gonna try Hamilton dam next. Hope everyone has better luck than I did. As always keep your lines tight and ur reelz smoking. Rascal Trophy Fishing
2MD, waterspout = great danger = get off water quickly. Nice pic.. As regards walleye on Lk. Mich., I personally witnessed 8 being brought in by the Ludington net fisherman a few years ago. The smallest was 13#, and biggest was over 17#, monsters imho. He got them around the PSP, (pump storage project), just 3 miles south of the pierhead. His net there was set over 12-20 fow, shallow, and apparently some perch were in there too. Rocky bottom that must be a spawning area?
2MD
Went out off Holland harbor again tonight. Went 2 for 3. Both were four year old males. Almost all the fish I have caught in the last week since the water cooled and they came in have been males which seems odd since in other years we always get about 5 days of mainly hens first. Anyways, rigger 7 feet down 60 back on ball in channel right in front of big red trolling east on j-plug ladder back. Next was mono-dipsey 35 feet out trolling east coming into channel just off south pier on glow frog spin-doctor. Had another hit it was a big pig and it just ripped our green ladder rigger in this exact same spot but it unfortunately let go a ways into the fight. This was where we were catching last night just tucked into the channel behind the south pier. We seen em jumping all over there tonight. The bite overall this fall is disappointing I would say. The fish we caught tonight were extremely dark. Seems like this could be over sooner than later. Regarding the walleye. I am no walleye fisherman and the only time I have ever caught walleye has been when I troll the Holland Harbor. They are notorious for hitting the inside downrigger on a turn when it slows down. All we run is j-plugs and they seem to like those. Last fall we ended up with probably a half a dozen walleye ranging from 8-12 pounds. My kids love the variety and novelty of reeling em in and saying they caught a walleye. My inlaws and everyone else I talk to love the meat even much better than salmon meat.
