Sea Eagle Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 We have been wondering where all the kings were lately. Can't say where they were, but a few showed up in our fish box yesterday. Went 6-8, 4 kings and 2 steelhead. 15 lb and 12 lb were the two biggest kings and 8 lb was the bigger of the two steelhead. Fished from 4:00 to 10:00 pm. First fish hit at 4:30 and last fish hit as we pulled lines at 10:00. Fished straight out to the south of the pier head from 80 to 135 fow. All fish came between 100 and 120 fow. Strong west/north west current and mixed temps 65 ft down at the ball between 41 to 55 degrees. Found fish in temps less than 50 degrees at the ball. Cooler water in shallower and warmer water beyond 120 fow. 2.2 to 2.4 mph at the ball and a southwest to southeast troll seemed to work best.Mountain Dew/ pearl SD green fly meat rig on 200 cu took the first king. The big king hit a pink alewife spoon on 300 cu.Missed a fish that hit on a full core with an unknown named spoon that is kind of a mixed veggies with seeds looking spoon that dirty dog had made up for me so I now just call that spoon dirty dog. Another pink alewife spoon on 200 cu and a small UV green gator spoon on 300 cu took the two steelhead. Lost a nice king that hit on a glow green flounder pounder spoon on a SWR DR down 70 ft when the hook and fish got tangled on the outside of the net. The last two kings came on a full core glow George spoon and 1/2 core glow Mongolian beef spoon. Our best trip of the year so far.

Sea Eagle Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Here is the spoon I named dirty dog. It was an out of production Silver Streak spoon I picked up in a cut out bin at one of the spring fishing shows. I only purchased one and it soon became one of my favorite spoons. Being scared to death I was going to loose it I frantically searched the web and posted requests on several fishing web pages all to no avail. A friend, Shawn (the Eliminator) was out on my boat one day and the " mystery" spoon had caught several fish. When I told him the story and he turned over the spoon and announced it was a silver streak, I almost fell out of the boat. I had thought I had looked at it several times. To make a long story short, a text messaged photo from Shawn to the Dirty Dog got me a 1/2 dozen new spoons in short order. Seems like the original name has been lost, so now I just call it dirty dog Thanks, Terry
