jdh Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Went out solo and decided to make several passes from 40-70 fow, south of the pier heads and didn't mark a single fish on the graph. Is the water just too cold yet?So I gave up on that and put a couple thinfish down trolling into the channel. That worked as I promptly picked up a 28" walleye. That's my biggest eye, beating my previous best by 6 inches. I figured that was enough luck for the night and headed in.-JDH
SeaCatMich Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Probably too deep. Most reports I have heard have had good results from 10 to 30 FOW from Manistee down to Mich City.
Dr Hook Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Is the water just too cold yet?-JDH Out that deep water was probably still in high 30's, but you never can tell without fishing it sometimes. That's why bad reports are just as valuable as good ones, so thanks for checking that water and thanks for posting.

N II Deep Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Yep. Water is just cold yet. We tried deeper water Saturday after we boated 10 fish. Not a bump.
SUPERTRAMP Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Probably too deep. Most reports I have heard have had good results from 10 to 30 FOW from Manistee down to Mich City. That's the ticket, from the pier head out to 35 FOW, edge of the Mudline in St. Joe and anything red or orange. We have been running all spoons and have had a lot of success.
