harsu Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Do any of you non-charter guys fish tributaries to Lake Michigan? I fish the St. Joe out of Shamrock Park.
Nailer Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Welcome Harry. I moved the question over to the River section.I do not, but there are many here that do. Hopefully some will chime in.
Paulywood Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I do fish some of the rivers but from shore/wading. No boat. Terry (Dirty Dog) has been pounding the K-zoo for the last week. He might be too busy fishing right now to chime in.
Crowhunter Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I fish the Kalamazoo all winter from shore when I am not hunting coyotes !
EdB Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 We fish the St Joe and Kzoo a lot in the winter.
danthebuilder Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I fish the black river & pier in South Haven. Lost a steelhead this morning had it hooked up and next to the pier. It swam into the rocks that are next to the pier and broke the leader. If I wasn't alone I would have had him. I was kicking myself for even considering landing him in that spot while alone. Live and learn I guess.
Trina Rose Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I fish the pere marquette manistee and the betsie rivers. I know the pere marquette the best. All three are great rivers, and all three full of steel right now. The only problem is they are outside of their banks right now due to all the rain. When the water levels start coming down "hopefully friday", the fishing will improve.
Far Beyond Driven Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Kalamazoo, grand, black, Joe, pentwater, and a couple so tiny that I won't even park near them. Fished the 'zoo for a big hour Saturday afternoon before my youngest, well my formerly youngest daughter timed out and hooked three.
fisf crazy Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 i fish the grand all winter long lots of steel in the system, water is coming down quick should be good this weehend
Sly Selea Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I drift/backtroll/wander aimlessly the St Joe river and wade below the Niles and Berrien Springs dam. Walleye have been plentiful this week below the Niles dam. I haven't been out on my river boat recently but word of mouth is the river has cleared of debris well this last week and has made the boat fishing more productive.
