Idigitt Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) I'm a erie walleye guy wanting to get into lake Ontario king fishing, thinking about still getting up to oak orchard this year .is it to late to get them in the lake ? Edited September 22, 2013 by Nailer
Richard Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I have only been to the Oak once. But lake wide the mature salmon are at the mouth of the rivers staging to spawn. Some have been in the rivers for a few weeks. You could also try offshore for the two year old salmon and for steelhead.I really liked the port and would like to get back there sometime.Good luck and tight lines
John E Powell Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Fishing has been good the past few days. This is the time to troll the shallows. Another week or two and it will probably be all over in shallow and you'll need to go offshore a bit for next year's fish.
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Great choice Rick, welcome. Yes, it's a bit late now, except for river fishing, that's hot now. Check with an Ontario charter service fish reports.
tltorrice Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Rick, I have been making a trip to Oak Orchard every year for the last 5 years from Michigan. We camp out at the Lake Shore State Park. We go the first week of August and have great luck off shore with limit catches most days. Last year our largest fish was 30#. This year 28#. Many fish over 20#. Lots of Steelhead and an occasional Brown. We find this to be a very nice area to fish, and a very laid back community.Hope to see you there.TT
