stcroixx09 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 have a one handed crank big jon. goes down fine but when i crank up it gets to tight to turn, more i crank tighter it gets. was able to manually turn spool with my hand to get the ball up. anyone know what parts i might need to fix and how hard they are to install?
Priority1 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Give Big Jon's a call. Their Customer service is second to none.
mattmishler Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Give Big Jon's a call. Their Customer service is second to none. Not anymore.....
Eliminator Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Not anymore.....Agreed......I have dealt with them several times and was disappointed...
IRon Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Same thoughts here. Customer service is about communication. My experience with them was they were timely but the people I talked to we're lacking in communication skills. They just don't follow up on details like they should. Was disappointed also.
sherman51 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I guess I am on another page I have found them very helpful in the past. I guess it just depends on what you need and who you talk with.sherman
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Sounds like some sort of drag, or drag setting on the wheel. BJ has a legendary name for great customer service, can't imagine what went wrong. They usually are great 95%.
gmfishon Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 overall the service is ok. I would maybe email versus phone and or a combination. don't know if they are called drag or spool washers. whichever I am sure its your problem A blindfolded monkey could install them.
Just Hook'n Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I've had all great experiences with Big Jon.
stcroixx09 Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 thanks for all the advice. just bought 4 cannaon mag10 stx so no need to fix and no more crankin. now i have 4 big jon manuals 4 sale to are one handed 2 are clutches with star knob. by the way 1 needs a drag washer lol
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Once you've had electrics Paul, you'll never go back, good move.
sherman51 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 im with rascal on this one. I used manuals for many yrs, just couldn't justify the cost for electrics. after cranking them by hand for 30+ yrs and then going to the 13 lb weights and getting a little older I invested in some new electrics. I haven't looked back except to kick my behind for waiting so long. I would never have another manual if fishing anything over 30' LOL.sherman
