penaltybox Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I fish mainly the Muskegon area. I have noticed the last few weeks that I am marking very little bait. The last two weeks I have opened a few stomach that are completely empty. Maybe the DNR was correct on the lower number of bait fish. Anybody else noticing the same thing?
fishsniffer Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 not disputing the bait thing..but there are a few reasons you may not be seeing bait..catch em real early before theyve eaten or perhaps it was a big nasty whos stomach was starting to tighten
highpointdf Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Noticed the same in GH. Saturday we caught 9 and they were all empty and we caught most well after the morning feed.
Just Hook'n Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The fish we are catching in Holland all have fish in them...not as much this weekend, but last weekend they were packed - surprised they bit our lures being so full already. This weekend, they had just a few in each - 2 to 4.
Long Lines Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Agree with Mark...it has been coming and going out of Holland; but the fish have had bait in them and my sonar was showing massive balls of bait with hooks around it last Thursday...and the fish were aggressively feeding. Not sure what to think about the bait...hoping the balance that is there this year at least holds steady for the next couple of years...then maybe we'll see where this is all going to lead.
fishy1 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 We must have all the bait in Ludington as there has been massive amounts here all summer and several different years classes of it also.
