Ive been fishing numerous times on the big lake off of Grand haven and port sheldon and cant seem to catch any of the big fish people are taking. Most recent we ussually catch fish from 8-10 pound kings and mostly fish between 80 fow out to 165 fow with riggers from 40 down all the way to 90 down. I use dypsys and also copper and lead core on planner boards. Any advise on what speed, or depths people are catching the bigger fish would be much appreciated. we will do well catchiong fish, but nothing bigger than 16 pounds.

Unfortunately, north of holland has not been holding as many large kings since prior to the waypoint. But keep plugging away, there's a push of big ones coming ;)

Sometimes you can be on teh fish and not get big ones.

If you want to target bigger fish set a spread of meat and plugs and run 1.8 to 2.0

You may not get as many but if theres any pigs you should find em

We've been fishing port sheldon a lot this year and we've got a consistent big fish spread. We usually start in close early around 5 in the 70-100 FOW until all the boats get out and we turn out and get out of the pack.. Riggers 60-90 Down fishing only meat rigs. Dipsey a 125-200 back with big paddles and meat.. Then coppers and leadcore with meat and plugs. Our best speed this year has been 2.7-2.8.. The biggest fish usually come once the sun comes high up later in the day.. So wait it out.

Don't get to worked up many of these "big fish" are not weighed just estimates but, there truly is some giant King's this year. We've had a couple close to and around 40inches, and the biggest is around 27lbs and quite a few between 36"-38" most between 20lb-23lbs. SD's/Fly's and Kingfishers/Cut bait have been the best off coppers and wire divers.
