mrhookup Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Decided to drop in close and got lines set by 6:15 in 40 FOW. First hit at 7am on Moonshine Blue Flounder Pounder on mono dipsey set at 100 feet out in 62 FOW, small jack king. Only other hit came at 9:20am in 93 FOW on fixed slider 70 feet down on standard DW Carmel Icicle, but it was a pig. Set a new record for our boat with a 40" 28lber. Here's the pic... The best part is it was reeled in on this setup, a 6'6" med action Rhino rod with a fly reel that I use in the river on 15lb mono...yeah it was a solid fight
highpointdf Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Great Fish!! It got real Quiet this morning after the sun started getting up there.
SeaCatMich Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I hope you're in the derby. That fish would likely be in the money and could be a daily port winner.www.michigansalmonspectacular
SUPERTRAMP Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Nicely done Kevin> Tell your Dad I said hi and maybe come down and take a trip out on the SilverKing. We have had a great summer but haven't fished as much as I would like.
mrhookup Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 will do Mike, and no not in the derby. Which derby are you talking about? I never do catch the big one if I've entered a tournament anyways so I probably never woulda caught this one
