HOOK N WOOD Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Does anybody know how deep the d.n.r launch is at port sheldon, my gps is showing only about 3 feet by the launch. I was wondering if this is correct or if i need to update my maps. I was going to launch there on saturday. Thanks
N II Deep Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 that sound about right. I was able to launch my 24' fourwinns there last summer, but turned mud all the way out. Have not been back this year.I would think 20' or less should not be a problem
rbradley Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I don't have any problems with my 22' sea nymph great lakes special (similar to islander)just stay to the center when going out/coming in until you get to the main body of pigeon lake, the edges are very shallow.we will be out saturday evening, expect the launch to be very busy, not as much pleasure boaters though, so it usually go's pretty smooth.
WRENCHED 4 IT Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Thats correct its about 3 feet at launch however you need to watch youre graph, there is a narrow channel more towards the south side of pigeon lake that you need to stay in or else youll beach youre boat if you stay towards the power plant side.it gets deeper about half way out of lake so go slowwww till than.good luck fishing ill be heading out saturday night and sunday moring so post how you did.
Fishrmac Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I will be heading out late Saturday morning on a family perch/salmon trip as well. Probably be taking out when you guys are all launching at 4 or 5:00
Great Gazoo Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 What kind of boat are you wanting to launch? Plenty of glass boats 22' to 26' launch there daily. Stay somewhat in the middle favoring the south side until you get into the pigeon lake.
KCOLE Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I've been launching my 25' four wins vista there the last two weekends. She's deep, draws probably 2-21/2'. Until I get near the big boats on the south side of the channel I leave it trimmed up 1/2 way and take it slow. Once you get near the houses and larger boats it drops off to 15-20', then you're clear all the way out. Just stay in the middle, you'll be fine.
