I have recently started using free sliders. I have only put spoons on the free sliders. Does anyone use j-plugs on sliders? Any other baits on sliders or do most people just use spoons? Thanks for helping us rookies!! :thumb::thumb:

Just spoons only for the same reason would tangle.also spoons and j plugs run at differant boat speeds so you would defeat the purpose of using two differant types of lures, the action of lure would be off.

Personally, I like to stagger the main bait from the slider about 10-15' above. If you go higher, you will likely lose the fish as too much slack occurs before you catch up. I like to use a 3-5' length, not longer. Also, as an example, I'll use a regular or magnum spoon as the main, and match the same color on the top with the smaller spoon, making it appear like the same baitfish is swimming with a larger and smaller one combined. You can easily get more hits and fish using sliders, if done properly.

So then Rascal Trophy Fishing....

do you use a double release attached to your main line to keep the slider in that 10-15' range above your main spoon? Swivel it to the main line, one release hold it in place and the other holds the slider? I think I might try that tonight.
