joeltammyx7 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I have recently started using free sliders. I have only put spoons on the free sliders. Does anyone use j-plugs on sliders? Any other baits on sliders or do most people just use spoons? Thanks for helping us rookies!! :thumb: Joel
Line Dancin Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 plugs dive and would tangle. I usually use lighter flutter spoons like super slims. or standard sized spoons.
WRENCHED 4 IT Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Just spoons only for the same reason would tangle.also spoons and j plugs run at differant boat speeds so you would defeat the purpose of using two differant types of lures, the action of lure would be off.
jeffsisson Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I only use spoons as well have wondered about trying Brads baits has anyone tried those???
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Personally, I like to stagger the main bait from the slider about 10-15' above. If you go higher, you will likely lose the fish as too much slack occurs before you catch up. I like to use a 3-5' length, not longer. Also, as an example, I'll use a regular or magnum spoon as the main, and match the same color on the top with the smaller spoon, making it appear like the same baitfish is swimming with a larger and smaller one combined. You can easily get more hits and fish using sliders, if done properly.
Fishrmac Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 So then Rascal Trophy Fishing....do you use a double release attached to your main line to keep the slider in that 10-15' range above your main spoon? Swivel it to the main line, one release hold it in place and the other holds the slider? I think I might try that tonight.
