whido isle Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 or any other downloadable technical data on the boat mine is a 76 ie...kind of wood used for stringers ect
83mulligan Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 On my 206 they were a true 1" Marine Ply wrapped in glass.
83mulligan Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 BTW, if you start a thread at Iboats in the boat restoration section, you'll get tons of help from people that live and breath tearing down boats and rebuilding them. They are very knowledgeable and willing to share.
whido isle Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 I've been on there as well reading around gaining some know-how & have read that some of the slickcraft boats came with mahogany stringers but I think that may have been pre amf (1970)
83mulligan Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 when you take them out try and be careful with them, especially towards the helm so that you can trace the pattern. The wood should be good up there and in less good shape by the transom. By the transom and going forward it will be of uniform height, but towards the helm it will start to taper with the curve of the hull and keeping them intact will save you some scribing time. This applies to all bulkheads too. You will find them on either side of your gas tank and at the helm where the cuddy begins. Not sure if there is one more on the 245 or not, but its nice to have the templates for rebuilding.
