FshEyz Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I normally fish Lake Saint Clair - but with all of the great reports of walleye fishing up in the Bay, I'd like to finally give it a try. Methods look similar. I usually use BB's / harnesses @ 1.0-1.4, down in LSC pinks, chartreuse and purple with hammered copper seem to be the ticket. I like to fish between 16-25fow, but in LSC you have to find a channel to do that, and watch out for the freighters.Question is - as long as that all sounds right for the bay too - where should I go to get some of the eye action I'm hearing about? I'm coming from down around Imlay City - so the south and east side of the bay are best from a logistics standpoint. Are Sebewaing, Fish Point, or Vanderbilt Park anything? Wild Fowl Bay? Just a few shots in the dark looking at the map. Open to suggestions. My boat is a Lund Rebel - 17' - I usually go out about 5-6 miles in LSC. Not sure how far I should go in the Bay - or what that does to my options. Thanks for any help or ideas. I'm pretty pumped to expand north.
sjk984 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 were are you launching from.. try sunset much closer to the lake.. Sebewaing is 2.9 mikes from the launch to the end of the channelI may be out of sunset on the east side saturday
Priority1 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Robert, A warm to the GLF site and Bay fishing. Hitch a ride with someone over that way and it will surely shorten your learning curve. I fish the udder side. Mostly AuGres because it's my closest port.
Lund fisherman Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Friend of mine from Yale has been nailing them in Waterfowl bay. The same program that you have been running in LSC.
FshEyz Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks everyone. It took me years to get my methods, and understanding of where to go in LSC - the bay is bigger so, I'm sure I'm looking at that again. Maybe you're right about hitching a ride. How does one go about finding a ride on the east side of the bay anyway?A friend was telling me they launched out of Bayport and fished up by Caseville but - if I'm measuring right that looks like a good 4 miles before you can come around the north end of the bay and up into the deeper waters moving toward Caseville. Might be better to launch off of that northern peninsula that makes the north end of the bay and head north. How deep are eyes being taken up there? in LSC it's anywhere between 9-16fow, or when they move deeper along the edge of the channels.I see some islands there (wildfowl bay) too. Looks like you may be able to jump out for a swim too.

TURBOTWIST Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Fisheye74 It sounds as you have a sound set up.so I would advise to go just a bit up the coast and launch out of case vile at this time of the season.watch the weather an choose your day .go out to 28-38 'f.o.w. or around oak point and sleeper state park. The Wally's are moving a bit deeper now.next port would be pt Austin.
