Moby Dick Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Went fishing yesterday and of the 28 miles I covered, 20 miles were at 25-30 mph and the other 8 miles at trolling speed. What a difference my 90 etec compared to my old 100 Johnson. This trip in the Johnson would have burned 5 gallons in the 20 miles and almost 3 gallons trolling for a total of 8 gallons. Saved about 5.5 gallons or close to $20. I have a 10 and a 12 gallon tank and with the old motor I would basically drain one tank on an outing where I went 10+ miles offshore. I not usually don't have to switch tanks for 3 trips. So far I'm very pleased with my etec.
King Salmon 1 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Have a friend with a 90 Etec and he really likes the performance and fuel mileage he is getting also. I went from a 50hp 2 stroke to a 60hp 4 stroke - was using 10 to 12 gallons plus oil on a 30 mile trip with the 2 stroke and now have 3 three gallon tanks and only use one of them per trip now !! $40 plus per trip to $12-15 now and now no smoke & it's quiet.
Gnarf Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 im looking at a kicker for next year. burning 15 gallons a trip sucks. ill keep etecs in mind.
