New TN fisherman-learning trolling

Hello, I am trying to learn to troll for lake trout in East TN. Everyone says the trolling experts are on the Great Lakes. I am trying to learn from your posts. So far so good!!! Thanks to everyone for the good information.

A warm and the max to you Max.

We used to keep an old beat up cannon ball that we'd keep bouncing the bottom with. We wouldn't have a line hooked to it. Just slightly above it, on different riggers, we'd run everything from peanuts, spin n glows, wobble glows, all behind chrome dodgers, ford fenders, or cow bells. Lakers like it a little on the trashy side. They also usually like it slower than salmon. Good Luck and tight lines always.

Welcome Max! One tip I picked up from guys who troll for lakers on an inland lake up here (Higgins Lake) is to use either a Rapala or sewn minnow behind a downrigger. No attractor needed. There are a bunch of smelt in Higgins so they use a smelt pattern and troll it near the bottom and do well with it. Good luck!
