Blackhawk Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Found a weather buoy straight out of port Sheldon yesterday. Anyone know if you can get info from it or what number it is. I tried looking it up but only find the Holland buoy. I had not heard there was one out there.
danthebuilder Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I believe that is the holland buoy. They decided to move it further north this year.
SeaCatMich Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Here is the web site that has all the data from the Holland/Port Sheldon UGLOS buoy: http://uglos.mtu.edu/station_page.php?station=45029Note: the location shown on the map is wrong.
Blackhawk Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Hah, everyone I know still thought it was in 80' off tunnel park. Sure enough, I just checked the gps mark and the numbers match. Very good to know, and handy for anyone heading out of Port Sheldon. If I remember correctly it is in 90'
Blackhawk Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 http://www.limnotechdata.com/stations/PortSheldon Not only can you get the wave height, water temp and wind direction, you can get a close up of what the lake is doing. What an awesome tool for the trailer fleet.
ekbelt Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I've been using this buoy for lake conditions this year. Another feature is if you are not around a computer and don't have a smartphone and want to know the details just send the text message 45029 (which is the buoy number) to the phone number 734-418-7299 and it will text you back in like 15 seconds with the current data from the buoy.I have a smartphone and still tend to use the text feature because its faster.
Line Dancin Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Blackhawk they also have a bouy on Erie for your trip over there later this month.
Blackhawk Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 I did see it on the Data portal. http://data.glos.us/portal/ It will make our decision making process much easier. We run 17' and 18' boats so lake conditions are very important to us.
