the kingfisher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Any trollers using scent for great lake trolling???Thanks
Trina Rose Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The last two years i was soaking my herring strips in herring oil before i put them in the water. I didnt really see a difference. I was also soaking my felt imitation herring strips in herring oil. Problem with that is you need to bring the felt strips up and re-apply the oil. I have found that the felt imitation strips do not work as good as the real meat. As far as whether or not oil makes a big difference, im not totally convinced. I am going to continue using the oil until its gone, than see how well regular herring works without the oil.
BILLY JOE Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 i use smelly jelly herring flaver holds on the lures very well.not sure how much it helps if any but i know it dosnt hurt have done well using it. i just like thinking its helping i guess
hear fishy fishy Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I have found most scents help only a little. However if you get suntan lotion on your lures it can hurt them. It think the fish can smell it and are repelled by it.
