SUPERTRAMP Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Fished St Joe again today. Left the slip at 7:30 with some good information from Dennis Neidlinger the Pro KIng, ran to 160 and set lines. (Weather forecast was calm to 1 ft with SE wind at 5 knots.) Weather man missed big time. Wnd NW at about 20, ground swell of about 5 ft made going tough. However we managed to go 12 for 13 with 10 fish kept, the catch was 10 coho, 1 Brown and 1 king, we released the last 2 fish we caught as we were bringing lines. the pics show what worked, 4 color 6 color Power Pro 030 dipsy on 2 out 55, and downriggers set at 8 and 12 ft all caught fish and it was not too bad once we got lines set. Best direction was going into the swell and speed about 2.7 on the surface speed
WRENCHED 4 IT Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Great job mike.ill be heading out of holland this weekend and heading youre way.from what you are saying everything was up high, where they hanging up high in the warmer water column?
SUPERTRAMP Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Surface temp at 200 was 40.5, the thing that was important was we found a trash line even in the big waves and the fish were in that line. Water inside is all stirred up and the fish are definitely not there. Dennis stayed in tight and had nothing. He told us to go deep as our boat is bigger and better in big water than his Islander.
Sea Eagle Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Thanks for the report. Was going to go out deep myself this weekend if I get the chance to get out. I've been wondering how deep we needed to go to find some clear water. Great job

Great jobTarrey:The clean water is out past 160, 40 degrees on the surface, we set there and didnt get a bump till we hit the trash at 235. The deepest set we had a hit on was a 6 color.
