Hey guys quick question. How do you attach the cannonball to the rigger line? I have heavy duty coastlock snaps that came on the used boat I bought. The reason I'm asking this is I had one break right in half on me last summer. Had real fun crimping on a new one in 3 footers in the pitch dark! Just thought there might be a better option. I am installing a depth raider next week and had me thinking about it. Thanks in advance.

Find some Tru Track Klinchers. No tools other than a pair or wire cutters or needle nose pliers to cut the wire. Pretty easy to redo a connection out on the water. Much easier than crimping sleeves and thimbles... They are only about $3 each too.

Quite correct Ryan, I've used those Tru Track types for many years due to ease of installing, and they don't break or open like Coastlocks. Mike, my advice is if you can find these anymore, as Tru Track of Ludington went out of business a while back, buy them. Also, check your riggers now in the spring, if the wire is old, or you don't know the age, replace with new wire, and new Klinchers, so you're set for the season. Don't let wire stay on a rigger for more than about 250 hours, or 2 years.

I have one of the Klinchers left. I also bought a small Cannon termination kit I leave on the boat. It has 6 ends in it and doesn't require tools, either. I also keep a spare set of rigger weights on board.

I use what ryan posted also. Walker has one same termination but has the blacks release built into it. They are ten bucks at cabelas. i tried one out on my probe rigger to try and get some stuff off the cable and will be buying them for my other riggers. I drilled out the rivit and did the connection like usint the trutrac one and it works great. one thing on the end of the cable. The nice thing about these is if you use crimps eventually the cable will break at the crimp these dont seem to have that problem(knock on wood).

I used the Walker/Blacks/Dubro release with the Klincher terminator embedded for quite a few years too... until I switched to the Chamberlain releases. You can still get the Klincher many places (I'm pretty sure they were even in the Lansing Gander Mountain):

Marine General even has them prerigged to be used with a Depth Raider, SubTroll, or Cannon coated cable down speed/temp: http://www.marinegeneral.com/productdetails.asp?productid=1482620&directoryid=11416&parentid=10981
