coralee Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I have trim tabs on a slickcraft ss235 and one appears to be slightly leaking. It has a hydraulic line to the back of it and I was wondering how hard it would be to replace the seals and how to go about it? Can I just take the line off the back and take the (piston?) off the tab and either fix it or take it in or is it more complicated than that? Do i need to trim the tab either up or down to remove the line and not have pressure or lose all the oil? Sorry don't know what kind they are.
Line Dancin Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Bob i went through this a couple years ago. I have insta trim tabs on my boat the big two companies are insta trim and bennet. I sent in the cylinders and they tested them, replaced one solonoid valve inside the pump rebuilt both cylinders replaced the filter screens and attached new hose for around 120 bucks i believe. They had me send in the pump motor and the cylinders. I had them back in a couple weeks from the day i shipped them out. I know bennett does the same thing not sure of the pricing for them, My dads boat had bennetts on it. You can compare the pics of the pump motor and figure out what companies tabs you have.http://www.insta-trim.com/http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/index.php
