Does any one have a 450 of blood run super twist 45 lb super copper on a tekota 800. If so how much backing do you have on it? Or do i have to put it on a convector 55? I tried to fill one today and can only get 375 on it with 700 ft of 50 lb power pro backing.

Brett's Place on the bay is selling Tekota 800LC reels preloaded with 300' of the new 60# copper and 175 yards of 30# Blood Run backing plus a leader (Link to Brett's Listing). 45# copper should be 25% less in diameter and The BR website says their backing is listed at .016" diameter while 40# test Power Pro is .013 in diameter. So, I would think 300' of 45# copper and 300+ yards of 40# PP should fit fine on the 800.

Edit: After reading Jim's response I realized that the OP was asking about 450' of 45#. The 800 is a big reel but 450' is a lot of copper. I would even consider going to 30# PP backing to save a little more space. Even 200 yards of backing should be enough to handle our current Lake Michigan fish. Worst case, slow the boat down -- a nice problem to have :)

I have 2 CV55L's with 450 of Blood Run on them they have 150 yds of Power pro 30 a short section of mono on the reel spool and 15yds of 40lb mono for board attachment and 20lb leader no issues. I know guys are running a 450 on a 800 but my calculator says it won't fit.

Yes, 450' of 45# Blood Run copper will fit on a Okuma 55. My reels have 300' of 50# Blood Run braid, 450' of 45# Blood Run copper, and 35' of 30# Blood Run fluoro leader.

Our real world spooling experience on the Tek 800 is 450' of 45lb with 150 yards of our 30lb copper backer line...which is .019 fyi.

450 feet of backer on a 450 copper is plenty enough. There is no need to put excessive amounts of expensive braid backer on these coppers. There is so much resistance from that amount of copper and planer board it would be a miracle with even a decent drag setting to have a fish pull out 300' of line.

Below is a link of a 29lb king taken on a 450 450 setup last year on Lake O. No problem...

What Jimmy said. the CV55 will handle the 450, but I really don't think the 800 might just come up a bit short. I too use the 6' of 40#mono to attach the board between the copper and the 30#PP works really well.

Yes you can fit 450 ft of 45lb cu on a 800 tekota but your braid backing is minimal at best. The okuma 55 will take a acceptable amount of backing and even a repair or two without binding up the levelwind.
