stevesykora Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I have Big Jon Pro tournament downriggers with auto stop... and I am having a heck of a time with keeping the auto stop slide on.... stay in position with crimps... no matter what I do... how "hard" I crimp the metal crimps.. they slide. Any suggestions?
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm not sure if I have the right picture of your problem, but I always use a rubber bumper over the top of my crimper for a stopper at the top. Hardware has them in black and white in several sizes, and they are inexpensive.
jimcr Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Scotty makes stops that slip on the cable , I don't like the idea of crimping on the stop it weakens the cable. I set my clutch so its not overly tight . it slips if I don't get it right away.
1mainiac Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Use small heat shrink with the glue insert and the problem is solved. It will not slip and won't damage the cable by over crimping it.
prop nut Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I second the scotty stops works realy good on the big johns !!
Paulywood Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I put the Scotty stpos on last year and they slip all the time. Maybe I'll double them up this year.
FishingandHuntingUSA Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I have never had a problem, always just crimped them little by little until they do not slide. That way you will not over do it
