I feel for those people whose boats were in there. We all know how bad we are chomping at the bit to get the boats out and going, to get a call that the boat is damaged or destroyed would be terrible.

I kinda doubt that any bilge pumps could keep up with huge fire hoses, but, I'm glad no one else was hurt, and hope for a fast recovery on this fellow. Closed-in areas without ventilation, on a boat with possible fumes in the air, is no place to light a torch. I've heard of soldering wire, but not torching it. Should have waited till launched, or call an electrician imho.

that is exactly what I thought about when I heard the story. I myself use a small torch pen (very small, but still has a flame) to shrink tube around wire connections. I've done it a hundred times...will definately think about making sure there is fresh air for sure after reading this story.
