luremaker Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 A friend of mine called me and said the Gander Mt on 44th street has now marked down all there tackle down to 50% off. But rods and reels are only marked down to 25%.
kid coulson Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 True, but its really picked over. Still some decent lures and stuff left. Went there tonight after work. The check out line was about 30 people deep! That store is going to be all guns and gun related stuff. Small amount of footware and some camo gear. I guess its going to be Michigan's largest gun library.
highpointdf Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 There were some pretty decent deals, but yesterday already the stuff was going out by the cart full. I heard one guy saying it was going to be a long night getting it all on Ebay. Too bad they are getting rid of the fishing department there. They were always helpful.
highpointdf Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 There is a Cabelas going in in Saginaw as well, it is supposed to be open about the same time or a bit before I think, Has anyone heard about the Gander Mountain in saginaw doing the same thing?
Eyefull Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Everything in the store 20-25% off right now, excluding firearms. Signs say "remodeling sale" I believe that the Cabelas will be opening on February 14th. A co worker will be doing the DJ work for their grand opening.
Line Dancin Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Went to gander today what a zoo the line was all the back to the tackle counter. It is pretty picked over for sure.I guess the mngt at dicks is freaking out also about cabelas going in.
CITM Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Gander is doing a major remodel, not eliminating the fishing dept.
SCUM LINE Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 they first mark up the prices before the mark down..(PER STORE WORKER WORDS)
highpointdf Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 moneypit, Straight from the fishing managers mouth. The grandville location will no longer have a fishing department. It will be called Gander Mountain gun World.
Line Dancin Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Talked to randy the fishing dept manager there and he said no more fishing and marine dept limited camo, boots, archery, and camping.
Just Hook'n Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Bummer...I always like the store and while I didn't find everything I needed in their fishing department, it was always nice to look at hunting/fishing/etc in the same place. I'm excited for Cabelas, but feel bad for Gander.
N II Deep Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Don't feel bad Mark, I'm glad the big box store is giving up. Cabelas will be a nice place to visit, but still my major purchases will be with the local stores.
CITM Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 moneypit, Straight from the fishing managers mouth. The grandville location will no longer have a fishing department. It will be called Gander Mountain gun World.I'd take that as good info then. I thought I was talking to a manager but maybe not.
highpointdf Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 It is too bad too Randy knew his stuff and was always helpful.
Line Dancin Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 It is too bad too Randy knew his stuff and was always helpful.Yep when i needed to go to that store i sought out Randy. He was always hapy to help in any way possible.
Salmon Assassin Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 There is a gun world in Wisconsin here. A lot of guns but the prices are significantly higher. They will price match any local store with an in stock item however. There are a lot of guns but a lot of the store is filled with fluff wanna be tactical gear and over priced ammo. Gander however was one of the only stores around here to have .22 ammo. Imagine that .22 ammo shortage....
kid coulson Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Ya, Randy is a good duck. He told me he has the seniority to stay at Gvill and learn guns, or he could transfer to the Kentwood store. Glad he can keep his job during these trying times.
highpointdf Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Went there tonight, they are upto 60% off on tackle, funny thing is I bought an item when it was 50% off, it costs the same now? They apparently raised the prices on some items, then increased the discount so it looks like a better deal, but it wasn't. Not real impressed with that practice.
