MSU lifts fishing ban for portion of Red Cedar

Michigan State University is opening a portion of the Red Cedar River for fishing-the hope is that it will improve the river's reputation, create opportunities for students and open up possibilities for collaborative work with conservation groups.

I live locally and was unaware of such rules. The red cedar also has real good northern pike fishing.

The fishing ban is just on campus. I know plenty of guys who have fished it without getting in trouble.

I think that it was only banned from shore too. Have fished it wading upstream from where Kalamazoo street crosses over the river and never any issues other than some odd looks. Some real nice gravel beds in there where Coho like to set up.
