arbogaster
I had a guy camping next to me in Ludington last year who swore by the 4" length Tomic plugs for harbor patrol. I have looked and only found them for sale online and those who have them are PROUD of them. They want like $10 per plug or more so that got me to thinking I could make some myself out of some wood dowels from lowes. I'm thinking of riggin up a jig using a deep well socket and an adapter to turn my drill press into a mini lathe. I figure it will be a good winter project. I figure with minimal outlay funds maybe 40 bucks max i can make up 20 plugs or so. I'm shooting for a blatant copy of the tomics. Anyone else here ever tried this? mattmishler
I thought you can buy tomics at chucks in ludington or fish on in spring lake and maybe the out doormen in Jenison. If you find them buy them, every charter boat in grand haven buys the number 4 tomics buy they handful, very good bait for the mud.
arbogaster
That may be the case I just don't get up that way often and I don't remember seeing them last time I was there. Yeah the guy I spoke to had a tackle box full of them just for combat fishing.
mriversinco
Looking at their shape it certainly looks like it could be done. I do know a little curve here or there could make a huge difference in how the plug runs but I think it would be worth a shot. In fact, kind of wish you lived closer cause I'd like to see it and maybe help.
