WRENCHED 4 IT Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Wondering whats a good brand fish finder that will be used mainly on the big lake.looking for something with a larger screen and easy to use.
Line Dancin Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 i love my Lowrance HDS unit. The gen 2s are really nice with the faster processors. and the touch screens are cool too in the 7in model.
Special K Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Love my Humminbird a great product with excellent customer service.
mattmishler Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Another vote for hummingbird, played with the 995 and the 1197, very good units and easy to use.
jay d Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 how much do you want to spend ? garmin is very easy to use and the new gsd 23 and 26 are great sounders.they just came out with a stand alone chirp unit too:thumb:
sslopok Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I like my humminbird and they have great customer service. Sent mine in for service in the middle of summer and got it back in 10 days. Try that with other brands:)
sherman51 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 really any of the brands above are great units. i have an older lowrance lcx-38c hd. it has been a great unit for many years now. i wouldnt throw any of the units above out of my boat to put the other one in. unless my old unit went bad, then i would be hard pressed to decide which brand to choose. lowrance hummingbird and garmin all make units that would be a good choice.anymore it is a major investment to get the bigger units. i would recommend if you can at all, make a trip to cabelas or a bass pro shop and check out all three brands. nothing like seeing them in person to confuse you even more,LOL.sherman
KJ pluggin Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 We have a humminbird 858 on our boat and have been very happy with it, but I agree you can't go wrong with any of the units listed above. Like Sherman said try out some different units and see what you like.
SUPERTRAMP Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 The only thing I would add is be sure to get a dual frequency 50/200 khz. The 50 Khz gives much better definition at depths over 50' and has a wider cone. I really like the Lowrance gen 2 with 7" screen really nice and easyto use.
WRENCHED 4 IT Posted December 12, 2012 Author Posted December 12, 2012 Thanks all for input.like the idea of the larger screen, seeing as eye sight starting to poop out, must be that 50 something kicking in lol.
RedRider Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Thanks all for input.like the idea of the larger screen, seeing as eye sight starting to poop out, must be that 50 something kicking in lol.add ten more and you'll really appreciate it:grin:
MoJoRisin' Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I've got a Humminbird 787c - love it. Didn't have the coin to get the larger display - however I am not in any way dissapointed with what I have.
CAC Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I have the Lowrance LMS 525 Dual and I love it. A friend just got the Gen 2 and I would definitely go with that one if mine suddenly say, fell in the lake.
