SeaCatMich
Can anyone tell me about Deep Harbor Marina on the river in Saugatuck? There are a couple of slips there that are for sale in an auction. Is it a good place for fishermen? Water depth? Well maintained? Affected by big lake wind/waves?Thanks for any insights! danthebuilder
Isn't that place like 5-6 miles via the water from Lake Michigan?
SeaCatMich
It shows on google maps as being on the river between town and the Lake Michigan.
Nailer
It shows on google maps as being on the river between town and the Lake Michigan. When I google it, they show it as being East of 31 quite far away from town. With the water as low as it is now, I would be cautious. danthebuilder
Click HereI am pretty sure this is the true location. As you can see its way too far from lake michigan. If you go to their website it says they're east of 31.http://www.deepharbormarina.com/and they list the address different from google which is 6269 Wiley Rd
SeaCatMich
Here is the address listed on the auction: 6269 Riverside Dr Saugatuck, MI 49453 Map: http://mapq.st/Tfp1QO
EdB
Ryan, if the location on your map is correct, you'll have deep water all the way to the lake and it is a sheltered location from Lk Mich waves and wind. They main thing to check out is the docks themselves to make sure the water level immediately at the dock is OK and they are in good condition. As others said, east of 31 would not be good. Hope it works out for you.
Play Dough
Dan is correct. That marina is far upstream from K'zoo lake east of Douglas. When I purchased my current boat in 2004, it was moored at Tower Marine and you had to zig-zag through the lake to avoid grounding. I would assume it isn't any better today. That marina has to be an hour to Lake Michigan, under two bridges. The lake chart shows very little water east of the bridges. The actual address is 6269 Wiley Rd, Douglass, MI. Find it on google maps.
DocPaul
This map does not look correct, is this the office location maybe? Always thought it was east of 31 and Douglas, Tower Marine was fine this year, just dont go straight across the lake, the buoys mark the way out well. jimbobber
it is above the high ways and it is very shallow between marina and the lake not good for a big lake boat , pontoon maybe.
Rascal Trophy Fishing
Dewitt shouldn't be that far from Saugatuck, I say drive over before making any auction bid, see what you are buying beforehand, it's worth the drive imho. The website looks like high water pics., the lake is real low right now, so be sure first I think.
