Spoonin Around Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I was just gonna get a general consensus on thisI normaly run 8 inch flashers (pro trolls, and spinys) plus i run a few 10 inch BTI from JK for meat rigs ... I run all of this on 20lb Floro never had a problemnow im gonna try running a pro troll 11inch next year with longer flies and twinkies Do you think 20lb is good enough for this size flasher?
KJ pluggin Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 20 lb will do you just fine, I have been running ours with 20 lb since I started using the big paddles and never had a problem.
SeaCatMich Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 My rigger rods never go any higher than 20# mono. Even way back when we had much bigger Kings in Lake Michigan. Shouldn't have a problem at all.
Nailer Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) 20# is good for the rigger/diver line stringent. We like 40-50 for the fly leader. Edited September 9, 2012 by Nailer
Spoonin Around Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 thanks guys ... then im not gonna string up a 25-30 lb rod i run 20lb on everything except i have one 15 rigger rod tied up for spoons ... and i run 12lb leaders on 3 color and up for spoons for high bowsi was just worried the 20lb might not handle the big flasher
Great Gazoo Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I always run 20# on the riggers with big paddles. I do like to have either 30# mono or 40-50# flouro between the paddle and fly.Never had any issues.
ChampionShip Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Our rigger rods have 20 lb and not any issues, and they usually have flashers of some variety on them. Just watch the drag pressure and you should be good.
ChampionShip Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 That being said, I might be willing to try some 30 for when the fleas are around.......which has been alomst all summer.
hear fishy fishy Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I have run big paddles off the riggers with 17 pound and haven't had a problem. I use 25 pound on divers.
