jake73 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Has anyone been out of Port Sheldon lately? I am going out this weekend and am looking for the latest report. Also, I am going to pick up some plugs since I only have a handfull of them and I am noticing a lot of people getting fish on plugs now. What should I get? Do I have to run them any differently than I do my spoons or flies? Thanks in advance for the help.Jake
Blackhawk Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 There is a small craft advisory until Saturday evening for most of south west mi. going to be rough this weekend. 4 to 7 footer predicted.paddle/fly and plugs seem to be the hot program good luck and let us know if you make it out.
coralee Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Wonder bread and Purple back plugs have been good
jake73 Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 Yeah I checked NOAA after I posted on here. Hopefully it lays down by Sunday afternoon. That's when I was hoping to get out.
Boblo Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Made it out last Sunday a.m....best water was 130-155. Finished 4-8. Spoons of green and of orange took fish as well as mountain dew spin doctor with a pickled sunshine fly. All hits/misses and fish came on downriggers anywhere from 50'-80' down. No dipseys or long line takes. Good luck and be careful if you venture out, sunday may be questionable as well.
bartmanblunders Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 We tried making a run out there tonight, fishing by about 4:30 and hoping to beat the storm.....launched with waves around a foot and by 5:45 the wind switched and within about ten minutes waves were around 4 feet. I don't imagine the lake laying down anytime soon after this front passes through. Did have three releases but no hook ups.
