tltorrice Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 We finished out our 2012 Salmon season yesterday with 9 for 12. We launched at 05:00 am and headed out to 100 fow just north of the port. We ran our standard in the dark spread, 2 down-riggers and 2 dipsy divers. Glow meat rig, j-plug, and spoons. I don’t remember what all took fish but all rods did. We worked from 110 to 160 fow and boated 6 salmon all on the smaller side. Around 09:00 am we kept a NW troll and headed out to deep water. We dropped our divers out to 2 and 2 hundred feet the down-riggers were 80 and 115. We started harvesting some mature kings in the 19 & 20 lb range. We quit at 10:00am with a respectable box of salmon. The big fish came on the deep rigs.Time for me to put the boat away, get out the bow. The seasons are changing.Tight LinesTom Torrice
Grant Sadler Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Nice finish Tom:thumb: I'am excited to get bow hunting too, but if mother nature is nice I think I'am going to get a run out to the reef PA side for trout on the other lake, Huron I mean:lol: their is some hogs out there I hope:D Good luck W/ the deer Hunting.
Just Hook'n Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Tom, I'm stuck in a quandry with hunting as well. Happens every year - your heart starting thinking about being in the woods rather than on the pond. These 50 degree nights coming up later this week will make it even worse. I think we have at least one more trip in us for the big water, but it depends if the weather cooperates a few weekends from now (the weekend before the youth hunt of course).
mattmishler Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Season wrap up? i got another 2 months of charters before we stop.
Boltman Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Yeah it's a little early to wrap up our season, but you had a great one....Good Luck with the Deer... Here's the deal, I live on the east side of Michigan, and I haven't seen half the road kill that I've seen in years prior....US 23 south of Fenton Michigan is normally the worst, but not this year, I'm wondering why....
Nailer Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Very nice Tom. You really put some miles on that boat this year.
