BenLubbs Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Went out Wednesday night with Mike Elzinga planning on slaying some fish with the cold water moving up. Set up in 80 FOW straight out heading North a little before 6:00. Worked our way out to 100 FOW without a bump. Heard that some were catching fish in closer so turned around and moved into 60 FOW. Finally got our first hit halfway past the sliders that I'm sure was a nice fish because it was pulling drag out on the downrigger rod but we missed that one. That one came on a pearl/wonderbread/glow Ace-Hi on the rigger down 45. After that I loaded the other rods with plugs and we could hardly keep them in the water until we turned around at Saugy as the sun was setting. Only took one hit after the sun went down. Ended up 6 for 11 with 3 nice kings, 2 smaller kings, and a brown around 6 lbs. What worked:3.2 SOG on south troll, 2.4 SOG on north troll58 to 62 FOWRegular size Wonderbread/Glow Ace-Hi on rigger 45 down - HOTSmall size Wonderbread/Glow J-plug on 10 colorRegular size Green back/black splatter/glow Ace-Hi on rigger 50 downSmall size blue back/sparkle/glow Ace-Hi on 250 #45 copperRegular Size glow back blue dolphin on wire diver 80 ft backDespite the forecast went out this morning with Roger of No-Mo-Beggin. Very slow morning. Hit the water around 5:30. The fish were not where they were last night and we made it all the way down to Saugy before the waves really picked up. Turned around and headed out. Hit a school of fish in 110 and had 3 hits in 5 minutes, only landing 1 which was a nice king. After that we took one release and trolled back to Holland. When we pulled lines at 10:00 the waves were all of 4ft with a lot of bigger ones thrown in.What workedNorth troll at 3.0 SOG110 FOWBlue back/black ladder/glow Ace-Hi down 70 on rigger10" Chrome/blue SD with Blue Dolphin BLL teaser rig 85 down on rigger11" white/chrome fishscale paddle with poofster fly 150 back on diver set on 2

Mike Elzinga Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Ben, you need to add the brown to you fish total, thanks for the ride wed night. It does not get much better than smoked fish, crakers, cheese, cold drinks, and fish on.
Dr Hook Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Thanks for the report. Nice to have it before the weekend. Not surprising they moved out considering the temps on the wave buoy this morning.
Just Hook'n Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Thanks for the report Ben. Heading out tonight ( I think ) and tomorrow morning weather depending. I saw the buoy data was a little interesting this week.Yesterday the cool water came in and up and then quickly retreated.
