COPE WITH IT Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm going to be fishing sagnaw bay for the next to weeks I have some good spots around big charity island BUT I have never fished the steeples if any of you could just give some info about fishing out there I would return the favor with some lake STclair or lake Erie INFO. thanks
Priority1 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 There are some hazards around the Charity Islands. Be careful. The steeples area can be tricky. It's easy to hang gear up in that area. A good chartplotter is a must. I fished the area earlier this year and did get some decent eyes. I fish the bay as much or more than most. I live between Au Gres and Tawas and I'm retired.
COPE WITH IT Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Thanks P-1 do the fish suspend higher that normal & how tight should I get to the structure
Priority1 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Thanks P-1 do the fish suspend higher that normal & how tight should I get to the structureI don't fish that area a lot (2 or 3 times a year) because there are a ton of fish in closer most of the time. I usually just troll between them and let the graph tell me how deep to fish. No mater where I fish I always start with a few outside lines high. I usually run a 12 rod spread and the fish tell me what and how deep. The bottom in that area is rocky so if your targeting the bottom have some extra gear along.
kitchen Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I fished out the steeples 3 or 4 weeks ago and did very well, once you find them we just stay like a quarter mile off the steeples on 1 of the 3 sides or all 3 sides, we usually get rite up to them and mark that way we can troll up to a couple hundred yards away from them, we rarely ever troll over them, we troll around them, you can check my post BIG CHARITY AT LAST, IF YOU DONT FIND ANY FISH OUT THERE TRY OFF OAK POINT
COPE WITH IT Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 thanks everyone for the info we had boat & health problems this past weekend so we didnt even get out. We will be out Thrusday thru Sunday this week so hopefully we can put some on ice.
