coralee Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I have 2 Gander Mountain steelhead rods around 9' that work pretty good for up to 3/4 oz but looking for a stiffer rod that can cast 1 oz or maybe even 1 and 1/2 that is light and easy on the arms and wrists but can still cast a mile. Any suggestions? Thank you
mrhookup Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Shimano Convergence are a great rod, I have the 12'6" model that I use with my centerpin reel in the river but it doubles for me as a great pier rod. I can chuck 4oz pyramid weights as far as I need to with it. Cabelas Whuppin sticks are also really good and about $20 cheaper if you don't mind the bright blue color.
Line Dancin Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I bought at a gander down south a shakspeare 10 ft surf rod it was a power rod for like 30 bucks for fishing florida. when i go down to my uncles. so far i have used them surf fishing in florida, as copper rods when i first started running copper and surf fishing up here throwing up to two ounce pyramids. They are just a glass rod but they have done me real well in the 10 years of owning the pair. http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/index_rods.html
