Just Hook'n
Well, I was stupid and went out during the week to take a buddy from work and a guy from Alabama out (who had never caught a salmon). We got him on some fish, but it was pretty slow. We ended up taking 7 and having 1 or 2 get off, but had a ton of drivebys. 4 of the fish were 15lbs or so, two were 4-5lbs and we had a nice 5 lb steelhead. We fished 150-190fow with 175 being by far the best for marking and catching. Fish were DEEP - 120+ down is where we marked most of them. Riggers down deep with UV blue mango, Chute down deep with paddle and fly. Mag Dipsey 190 out on 1.5 with spinnies and fly - one on meat rig (small fish). 300 copper went with green ladderback J plug ace hi (thanks Don) and full core went with moldy muffin for the steelhead.Lake was awesome - nice change from recent wind.Had 175fow all to ourselves all night. DocPaul
Thanks for the report Mark, love that you are getting new people out to enjoy our sport. I try to introduce a few newbies to salmon fishing each year.
