King Salmon 1 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Started this morning in 80 fow off the smoke stack North of GH 6 am.Took my neighbor for his first Salmon trip - he's a big bass and panfish man.First hour was a total zoo for him, 4 for 6 by 7 am with a couple of hogs. Went dead when the sun came out so 8 am we headed west to 140/180 fow.Picked up 5 more in 150/160 fow, screaming Kings and jumping Steelhead.By now his left arm is getting sore - but having a great time.Lost the next 4 fish trying to put the last one in the box.Headed east towards piers and picked up last fish in 100 fow.He was wound up by now, we ended up 10 for 16, 7 King & 3 Steelhead. We took the fish on the following.3 Kings on rigger down 35,45, & 75 ft - 11" white/blue paddle with UV white fly.2 Kings on rigger down 35 & 55 ft - Mag. Moonshine Flounder Pounder UV.1 King on 300 copper - Alley cat spoon.1 King on 150 copper - small Moonshine Flounder Pounder UV.3 Steelhead on 225 copper - 1 on Lemon Ice, 2 on Blue Dolphin UV.Most fish were caught on NE/SW trolls, 2.5 to 3.5 speed.Lots of bait and Kings 35/45 ft down at first light.Just talked to neighbor his legs are wobbly, butt is dragging, but still smiling !!Surprise he want's to take Monday off and fish !! Ha Ha
