HOOK N WOOD Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 How do you know when to use a 8 inch spin doctor or a 10 inch spin doctor.
NO MO BEGGEN Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 run both of them at the same time which ever one works the best run it and switch the other to the same size as the one that is working:thumb:
pentwater bite me Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 as the season progresses spin drs. and paddel size seems to increase.lead leangth(fly to rotater)needs to also go up with the size of the rotater, but always be flexable, fish do not read the book
1mainiac Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I run Pro Troll paddles and BW paddles I have some Spin Doctors but seldom run them. What I have used as a rule of thumb is what I am fishing for such as Coho and Steelhead run smaller stuff.
fishy1 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I tend to run the larger paddles and 10 in spin doctors when the fishgo deeper 90ft and deeper larger attractors throw off more sound and flash not saying its right just what works for me.
Adam Bomb Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I dont think there is a set rule. Put em out and theyll hit one or the other or both. Just like any presentation, they all have their day. Most times i have a mix of 8,10,12" out and they usually all take fish. So, my advise, run em, find whats working and give it to em.
Yankee Troller Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 There is no rule. Most times it comes down to confidence in a bait. Try it and if its working let it soak. I'd say 80% of the time guys are running 8" paddles though.
