Thats probably velvet.

What would your reaction be if you shot a buck, rolled it over to gut it, and discovered it was a doe?

It's dried up velvet. Most of the pictures I have seen of does with antlers they do not rub them like a buck. The velvet on the spike side must have dried up and came off on it's own. When they called me and asked me about it being a doe with antlers the first thing I asked her was if the antlers were polished or still in velvet. They are going to get a shoulder mount done, it was her first antlered deer. They were not even sure how to tag it.
