The U.S. Coast Guard's plan to conduct weapons training on the Great Lakes with lead bullets may violate an international agreement designed to reduce toxic chemicals in the lakes, according to the Canadian government.

The government of Canada sent a letter to the Coast Guard this week expressing a number of concerns about a proposal to conduct live-fire weapons training at 34 sites on the Great Lakes, 14 of which are on Lake Michigan.
