mriversinco Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Decided to change it up and went out of Muskegon last night. Used the DNR launch and what a pain that is to get to. Pretty weedy and shallow but I'd use it again if need be.Ended the night 5 for about 10. All steelheads from 90 to about 120' of water. We lost all the kings that hit and they seemed to be swatting at it instead of taking it. We'd have them on the copper until the board was about half way in. Did have one on a wire diver 150 that took us out to 450 and came unbuttoned about 50' from the boat. Here's what worked for the steel.full core SS screwball took 2250 copper with double trouble took 1rigger set at 85 with glow blue dolphin took 1braid dive at 120 with some type of glow spoon took 1.Kind of surprised at the depth of the steelhead.
Nailer Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Mike, what direction where you going when the fish where getting off? Some times a 90 deg. turnaround will get the fish hooking up better. We will be out of Whitehall tonight and tomorrow AM.
rwm Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 nice job if you use the state park launch make sure you head south towards the dead tree the eagle is in often, south east is very shallow.
