Priority1 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) This young man caught his first walleye today along with this 26 inch fish.25-29 FOW 2oz and 3oz bouncers with home spun harnesses. Color didn't seem to matter. The fish moved just slightly on us today. We started slow but finished strong. Water temps were 72-73 degrees F. The fish seemed to like the larger Colorado blades today. 20 fish box 4 man limit. I was up at 4 AM the last three days. I'll get back on them Monday. Edited June 29, 2012 by Priority1
EdB Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 That was a solid 3 days of fishing Frank. You're giving your fillet knife a workout.
Paperboy1 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Nice job Frank! A little warm even out there yesterday?? How long do you think the fish are going to hang around with this heat? I might be able go another time next week myself.
Trophy Specialist Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Frank, you mentioned larger blades: I have been running #3 blades on all my harnesses all spring and summer this year and have not changed over to larger blades yet. I basically use small blades on the bottom and larger (5-7) when the walleye suspend. Capt. Mike
Priority1 Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 Capt. Mike, Just try a couple of #5s on or just off the bottom. I'm still running a couple of #4s. Earlier I was running mostly nickel #2s at a snails pace. I don't think these fish are all that fussy. Next trip out I may try a pop can tab. Gotta Luv what we have going right in our back yards.
SPOONWASHER Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Nice job Frank!! I hope to hit Au Gres Monday morning for our first bay trip of the year.
