East side trip

Ok were coming over for our first walleye trip July 6th thru 9th fishing out of linwood marina do you think the fishing will still be active. planning on running spoons on riggers and short lead and bottom bouncers out the side on our dipsy holders what do you think.

I sure hope the fishing is still hot then. With temps in the middle 90's for the next several days, the water will be warming every day. No north blows in sight, so that will also allow the water to warm. Right now the fish are almost everywheres, from 12fow to 24 fow on the inner Bay. Fishing out of Linwood is very good straight out in 16-20fow. As the water warms, I suspect the fish will keep moving deeper. There will be lots of boats indicating where the fish are. I tend to stay away from the packs though as the fish tend to get shy after being pounded all morning.

Spoons have been awesome for me. I run 3 or more off each side on big boards using Walker Mini Discs to get them down to the fish. I also run lite bite slide divers over the corners (standard dipsys will work, but much harder to detect a bite). Bottom bouncers may work, but at spoon speed (2.5-3.2) it may be hard to get them down to where the fish are. Walker mini discs, Big Jon mini discs, and the tadpoles are all good ways to get them down. The bouncers may work, you will just have to mess around with leads and such to get the depth. If you have any slide divers, they have been my go to setups for hawgs using Silver Streak minis with long leads (20-40'). I run mostly the Jr's on the board rods. Don't even be afraid to run standard size spoons, they will eat them, even the little guys. I have been using short segments of BR 32# copper once in a while. It does catch fish, but you really have to watch close to make sure a fish doesn't get into it when it swings back to the middle. If you run it (or leadcore) on inline boards it will eliminate this issue.

Forgot, from Linwood you will be able to fish at and past the 1 & 2 boueys (last channel markers) with a manageable run. If the water temps push the fish deeper, that will be a good place to start. You can easily fish water depths of 23-26' around those markers and to almost 40' a little farther north.

The short cores will work. It is becoming more and more common on the Bay. If you play around with what you have, and get the spoons down to where the fish are, you will catch them, they aren't all that fussy right now. Good luck and give me a shout if you need any more information.
