Special K Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hi quick question for anybody that can help. I'm setting up a new copper rig today and I want to try the shrink tubing over my albright knot. Question is how much heat do you guys use? Indirect flame? Hair dryer? I just cringe at the thought of using to much heat and weakening my backer. Thanks
fishsniffer Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 i wouldnt recommend shrink tube over an albright cus the backer and leader are attached..if youre gonna use shrink tube use a haywire twist with a small spro or comparable swivel..heat the shrink tube let cool then put leader or backer on
silver one Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I have never had a leader break off of an albright not going to copper. and I put nothing over it. I have done it with alluminium anodized guides and roller guides. also with. if the knot is tied correclty you should barley have a tag end. I see what you are getting at and it is not a bad thought Just dont think it is necessary. Good luck.
