Downrigger Weight Termination Clips

What is the best way to terminate your downrigger cable at the ball? I run Cannon downriggers, and the little plastic thingamajig that comes with the DR where you route the wire through a series of channels, and then clip the two pieces together seems pretty cheesy. Anybody have a better, more robust method that works?

Those are awesome clips! There are several different clips that are pretty much the same idea, but if you want to get away from the clips you can tie it just like you do with your wire rods. Two simple overhand knots will do the job.

Nothing wrong with the Cannon clips other than are pricy most guys use the Klincher setup sine it works better with a probe like the Dpth Raider or Sub Troll.

I use the Cannon's. I like them because they are reusable. I bought a set of them a few years ago and just opened it this year when I had to replace the cable on my rigger. I don't use a probe, however.
