Chummer Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Launched Sat. in Standish right after storm blew through. Set up in 28 FOW, 2 & 3 oz BB with meat, tried varying speeds. Picked away at 'em with wind pushing us to deep water off Pt. Au Gres. We ended with 9 keepers and probably a dozen dinks. Could not get a consistent/steady program going. Only pink blades and on bottom seemed repeatable. Hearing confirmed reports about 35' of water off Au Gres, we launched there Sat. AM and ran right out to that area. Lots of boats but few nets going in water. Relocated south to 28' and finally got 3 over 23" and a bunch more future fish. Big bug hatch Sat. night. Beautiful weather, bit buggy, great time with wife and friends. We enjoyed a delicious walleye dinner Sunday night! Staying on bay last week of June. Can't wait to get back at 'em. Nice to meet you JWheeler!
JWheeler Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Nice to meet you JWheeler! It was nice to shake your hand too Chummer! Same story for us. Worked very, very hard, for the fish that we did harvest. Wasn't fast n furious like the inner bay that's for sure. But I don't think that the hatch helped out the effort. Will be back up this weekend for another go round!
buster107 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Kevin I was launching out of Standing this weekend and went to the number one bouy and got out limits there. Thanks for your report!!!
Chummer Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Thanks Buster! We're anxious for the next opportunity to fish.
addaline 27 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 we fished friday and saturday out of au gres. had trouble getting anything to bite steadily or on anything in particular. worked 30-32 friday and 36-38 on saturday. off the point. 9 on friday, 5 saturday. sort of glad to hear others with greater experience had the same report. inner bay seemed to be the place to go. first post. enjoy the info. wondering why guys don't talk on their radios like the salmon fishers do?
