kiltman Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I'm wanting to fish the pier in August through the fall.Do I use a stronger pound test that the 10# power pro and 4#-8# leaders I use in the spring for steelies? What baits will work best?GD
danthebuilder Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 What do you want to target? Half the kings I saw caught last year from the pier were on 3/4 oz glow spoon with white background / orange spots.(walmart sells it if you can't find it at your local baitshop). 10# power pro should be fine. Night time is definitely where its at.
mrhookup Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 If you wanna cast spoons and such the 10lb power pro will work but I'd highly suggest bumping up to 20 or 30lb since it's the same diameter at 8lb mono anyways. For fishing live alewives on the bottom 10 or 12lb flourocarbon leaders is the usual affair when targeting kings. Make sure your reel has atleast 200yds of line though for those screamers that head straight for Milwaukee.
