SUPERTRAMP Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Late start, due to some crew issues but left the piers and ran a 330 to 70 FOW and started setting lines. We started with 4 riggers 3 dipseys, 2 fullcores and 2 300' 45# copper. Had a mix of spoons and flasher fly combos out. No hits until we hit 160 FOW and then hooked up with a 3# coho on the full core with std size NBK. Made it out to 220 and turned back in managed to get north to the 15's and turned back toward the piers. Steady action in 160 to 180 FOW after we went to an all spoon program, Lemon Ice, Green Dolphin. Tequila sunrise were all good. The best presentations were the 45# Copper with mixed veggies and NBK, took 4 of our 9 fish. We ended up 9 for 11. 1 Fish came on wire dipsey out 130 set on 1.5 NBK, and 1 on a rigger parked at 155. 1 Steelhead, 1 23# laker, 2 coho and 5 kings all 2 year old fish. Not spectacular but a beautiful day on a flat calm lake. PS the flies are ridiculous.
jbuesing Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 nice job sounds like the same day we had same water. 9 for 11 all kings ..
flyman013 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Sounds like an awesome day on the lake. The flies were terrible out of South Haven yesterday too.
cliftp Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Love those St. Joe reports! Did you use the DNR launch? Crazy shallow by the docks if one strays a little to far. Thanks!Paul C.
SUPERTRAMP Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Love those St. Joe reports! Did you use the DNR launch? Crazy shallow by the docks if one strays a little to far. Thanks!Paul C.PaulWe are slipped on the Morrison Island at Brians Marina, I would really suggest that All of the GLF members use the St Joseph launch and park It is protected, and very little chance of vandalism. Costs 5 bucks to park in a nice lot and the launch retrieve docks are really nice. Just take "Anchors Way to the water treatment plant turn left then right at the gate to Brians Marina about 1 block and u come to the lot, pay for parking using cash or credit card and u can buy a season pass not sure how much we only use it twice a year 1time getting in and 1 time getting out, and the launch is really nice and no trouble with shallow water for the launch. It is about 300 yards upstream of the DNR launch across from their parking lot, just cross the river and go down along the shore past all of the shallow water. It does however get shallow if you get too far to the right going down river until you get past the Benton Harbor boat slips that Tackle Haven has.
SUPERTRAMP Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 For the guys fishing St Joe, I have started a group here u can access under groups, lets get some small tournaments going and have some fun.
