mriversinco Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Well, turned out to be a pretty tough day. We could only run 6 rods since it was another father and me with our young kids. Their first time on the boat and everything went well so it wasn't a total loss.As to fishing, ended up 4 for 5. Only kept 2 of the 4 and released the 2 shakers. Started at 80 feet and fought the crowd around 120 for one pass and decided to try deep. Took 3 in a row quickly at about 185 and thought it was game on but it didn't turn out to be so.Here's what worked:Moonshine carbon on rigger at 80 took 2Fuzzy Bear early bird on free slider on above riggerMongolian Beef on wired dipsey set at 2.5, 225 out.Had one on a happy meal braid dipsey at 130 set at 2.5This is honestly the first fish this year that I've lost that I thought was well hooked up. I've been truly amazed at how well the new upgraded drags have worked and my learning to keep hooks super sharp.
Priority1 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Mike, GJ and glad you were able to include the kids.
