Gnarf Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I've yet to take a hit on anything fullcore or less. Mabey its just me but who knows...
Twill23 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Our short stuff was slow except for the coho. We were REALLY successful just north of holland on plugs on the short stuff the last day we were there for kings. It's not very common to run plugs this time of year in that area, But it is here, and it produces here, and it worked for us there! Also consider Silver Streak minis for your short stuff for coho.
mriversinco Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'd still run them simply because it's easier to see if a board is dragging with a shaker on it if you're got a reference point.
BRIAN0214 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I have been out three times out of Grand Haven. All I can say is the deeper you can fish the bigger the fish you will catch. The only thing I have caught is small coho and one 10lb steelhead on any thing less than 50 feet down. Start out at 140 And work west until you hit at least 220 and fish from 80-120 down and you will catch some nice kings over 15 lbs on blue and green spoons.
mriversinco Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Since you don't have many rods to go deep can you put 5 or 6 ounces of weight on your 7 color? Is the 225 copper 32 or 45 pound? If 32, put a few onces on that too.
grumman184 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I will be in PS Saturday evening and Sunday morning if i find a pattern that works ill let you know. I'm running to braid dipsys riggers with sliders and copper. Will just have to see what fires
